POWER FACTOR CORRECTION: TYPE OF CAPACITORS USED

VMtec produces and uses for power factor correction application the following two capacitors:

- standard capacitors;
- 3In capacitors.

All the capacitors are environmentally friendly and contain NO PCB’s.

STANDARD CAPACITORS

Standard capacitors are characterised by:

- A polypropylene metallic self-healing film;
- All capacitors featured in this catalogue are fitted with an overpressure disconnector. If several self-healing breakdowns occur at the end of useful life or a result of thermal or electric overload, the formation of gas produces a fast rise in pressure inside the capacitor case. This causes a change in length of the case stretching of the expansion bellow. Expansion beyond a certain degree will disconnect the internal wires and from the line.
- Aluminium case.

3In CAPACITORS

3In capacitors are characterised by:

• A bi-metallic self-healing paper separated by a polypropylene film;
• Impregnation under vacuum;
• All capacitors featured in this catalogue are fitted with an overpressure disconnector. If several self-healing breakdowns occur at the end of useful life or a result of thermal or electric overload, the formation of gas produces a fast rise in pressure inside the capacitor case. This causes a change in length of the case stretching of the expansion bellow. Expansion beyond a certain degree will disconnect the internal wires and from the line.
• Aluminium case.

This technology has the following characteristics:

  • High resistance against the current overloads (until 3 times nominal value)
  • A longer life respect to standard capacitors with negligible capacitance variation;
  • An high capability to withstand the high temperatures (ambienttemperature up to 70°C).

3In capacitors can be utilized, even in heavy work conditions. Experience shows that after 10 years of service 3In capacitors are still operate sucessfully, with negligible capacitance variations.
VMtec metallizes all polypropylene films used for the capacitor manufacturing, having this it guarantees control on the whole production process.
